the wilderness within my cancer story

No words ever spoken by my friend Brenda carried a heavier meaning. I have known her for seemingly most of my life. And the whole time she has been living with cancer. NOT fighting it just living with it. For years and years like it was just a part of everything else. This website came about as an avenue for the book I asked her to write years ago, and as a conduit of inspiration for others going through the same journey hoping they can gain some peace and insight and realise that a lot of what you face in life can also be altered just by changing your attitude towards it.

And I quote Brenda’s words from her book…

“I’m writing this because I believe I have a story to tell that may help people navigate their ‘storms’, be it from cancer or any other life crisis.

This book is not just about cancer, it’s about discovering one’s courage. It’s about exploring the deep connections we have to something so much bigger than our- selves that, when felt and known, can give us an unflinching power to heal our- selves; it’s about understanding love and the deep freedom we gain when we learn to trust ourselves.

Most people see me as a strong courageous fighter, some sort of cancer survivor/ icon or hero… and yes, I can be that! I’m quite good at being positive and playing that card, but there’s another part of me that’s not always so brave, not that heroic at all. I’m just a human being going through the motions like every other person dealing with a potential disaster. “
